Is Detroit Maker Faire Happening?

Good Early Morning (or, for some of us, Good Evening) -

I literally tripped upon this TechCrunch article in my News feed just now…

TechCrunch: Maker Faire halts operations and lays off all staff.

So… With this occuring to Make, is Detroit Maker Faire happening?

I doubt that this will have any affect on the Detroit Maker Faire. Make: gave full control to the Henry Ford Museum about 5 years ago and is simply managing the trademark at this point. They used to be intimately involved with the operation, but disinvolved themselves. You may not see the MakerShed, but that might be about it.

MakerFaire New York would be in question for this year.

Please note that MFD has extended the call for Makers until June 15th.

In regard to the above, The Henry Ford generates A LOT of revenue, unlike Maker Media that operates the magazine and franchises the license out. Maker Media has indicated they are maintaining their Web Services, that provide the Online Magazine and Maker Faire advertisement and management, while Maker Media goes through its restructuring.
