I doubt that this will have any affect on the Detroit Maker Faire. Make: gave full control to the Henry Ford Museum about 5 years ago and is simply managing the trademark at this point. They used to be intimately involved with the operation, but disinvolved themselves. You may not see the MakerShed, but that might be about it.
MakerFaire New York would be in question for this year.
In regard to the above, The Henry Ford generates A LOT of revenue, unlike Maker Media that operates the magazine and franchises the license out. Maker Media has indicated they are maintaining their Web Services, that provide the Online Magazine and Maker Faire advertisement and management, while Maker Media goes through its restructuring.
