Hello Im new to the maker space and looking to get started in the woodshop so I’d like to get checked out on all the woodshop tools, whenever possible.
Hi, John. I’m Tony Kuhlman, the wood shop manager. I normally am in Thursday evenings for authorizations, but I’m heading out of town soon for the weekend.
There are others who can do the authorizations, and they may reply to you here. Otherwise, we can set up a time to meet, or you can come in next Thursday evening.
I am possibly available on sunday or monday evenings. Will either of those fit your schedule? Please tag me in your reply with @tony, and i should see it.
Tony
@Tony sorry for the delayed reply, I’ll be out of town myself for a bit, will you be in the shop Thursday the 9th? In the meantime is it ok to work in the wood shop area with my own hand tools ?
John, Thursday the 9th will be fine. You can bring your own hand tools, but please be sure to take them with you when you leave. If they are left in the shop, people will assume they are LMN property and use them.
What time will you be available for woodshop authorizations tonight? Thinking about coming in and getting a couple (band saw for sure) and want to make sure I’m not off timing wise. Thanks!
Matt, I’m sorry, I didn’t see your message until late last night.
I do open authorizations on most Thursday evenings from 5 until 8 PM or so - later if there are still people there. No appointment is needed, just drop in. Usually there are few enough people that we can do most or all the machines you’re interested in.
However - I will be out of town next week, starting this Saturday (tomorrow, July 11), and returning on the 18th. Carl said he can cover the Thursday checkouts next week, but for safety sake, you may want to post a note here to confirm that with him.
In general, if Thursdays don’t fit your schedule, and you want to want to get going earlier than that, you can always post a note here, and list specific dates and times that you are available. Woodshop authorizations can happen outside Thursdays, of course, if we can find a date and time that work for both of us.
