I was hoping some kind soul would be willing to show me the ropes in Ruby. I was trying to figure it out but just face planted on how to get material test files going. I think I just need a jump start to get going on my own research but starting from basically zero was too much of a steep climb for me.

Have you already been checked out on the laser and just need some help using ruby? Or are you asking to be checked out on the machine? I can help you with both of those. I’d suggest only using ruby to run the machine, as it’s very lacking when it comes to effective design. I like to use inkscape for general design and then just import my cut files into ruby.

Hi John! Yes, I’m already checked out on the machine, just needed some help with Ruby software itself. Specifically for how to dial in parameters and control some of the finer points of material settings.
Perfect! I have experience with that and am happy to help. Do you have days/times you’re generally at the space? Trial and error will be your best bet, generally, but I can also show you some things inside ruby that aren’t always intuitive.

I’m open to meeting up with you basically whenever works for you. Weekdays after 5 or weekends are generally all good.
Yeah, I’m in for trial and error, but when I tried, I couldn’t quite get to the trial part, lol.
Hey, George! Sorry for my slow responses, I’m back to work this week after a short sabbatical. I’m planning to be at the space tomorrow night (Thursday) for a machine shop lathe checkout. We could play with the laser before/after that if you’re available. I’m not sure how long that takes, but will have a better idea shortly. If tomorrow doesn’t work, how about Sunday?
