A gentle reminder: Please remember to drain the torch hoses after you turn the torches off. Draining the gas &/or oxygen from the hoses helps to preserve the life of the hoses. Once you’ve drained the hoses, please remember to disengage the pressure by loosing the *brass regulator knob that controls the tank pressure.
Recently, the Little Smith torch, farthest from the wall, had its knob fulling tightened so much that it was stuck. I & another person could not loosen the knob, at all. It took a lot of strength & force for another person to loosen it for me. This means the pressure was fully engaged at an extremely high & dangerous level. A pressure level that we should not set & run the tanks at.
Safety is important: Please refer to the torch SOP binder, if you’re unsure of something. It’s kept on-top of the tall wooden rolling cabinet between the pegboard tool stand & the hydraulic press. You’re also welcome to message me w/ any questions or concerns about using the torches. We can schedule a time to do a refresher, if it would help. If you haven’t had a checkout on the torches, please request one so I or someone else, who gives torch checkouts, can give you one.
Thank you ~ Heather
*Below is a photo of the brass regulator knob I’m referring to. The photo was taken after the pressure was released + everything checked & inspected to make sure all was working correctly.
