We just enabled reply via email for discourse. So if you get a mention, private message or otherwise receive a notification from Discourse in your email, you can reply to the email and it will be added to the topic.
I know some people really prefer to organize things in their own email, so this may be more convenient for you. New topics and other more detailed tasks (uploading images, etc) still need to be done from the web interface.
