Safety Issue: Hand Saws on Hand Tool Rack

ISSUE or REQUEST:

Affected Tool or Resource: Woodshop hand saws and hand tools

Team, Group or Volunteer who usually handles this type of ISSUE or REQUEST: @TEAM_Woodshop

Details of ISSUE or REQUEST (Please be as specific as possible):
When putting away a wrench on the hand tool rack today (left side on the side facing the table saw), a hand saw that was hung on the hand tool rack and not the saw rack (which is on the right side, closer to the drill press) fell down and made minor lacerations on two of my fingers.

We need to collectively be aware that hand saws do not belong on the same racks as the hand tools, and all tools should be stored in a secure manner such that they cannot fall and injure anyone.

Dan, first of all, you are OK, right? No issues other than scratches?

Second, thank you for bringing this up. I will look at it further when I get back.

I’m OK. I washed the cuts thoroughly as soon as I could after it happened, and I used the onsite first aid kit to bandage up my fingers. The cuts were already closed up by the time I got home and took the bandages off.
