When attempting to feed filament for a small print, the printer failed to extrude anything while using the Load Filament setting. Filament fed in the top is being grabbed by the step motor, but it’s not making its way much further to the hotend.
Please remember that VOLUNTEERS will be helping to resolve this issue. While everyone works very hard to fix things quickly, sometimes things take time. Please consider Volunteering to help keep everything working well in our makerspace!
Up on the first shelf to the left of the sublimation printer, there is a toolbox labeled 3D printer repair kit. In a clear plastic container on the top left of this tool box there are a bunch of acupuncture needles. These can be inserted into the nozzle of the 3D printer in an attempt to clear the clog. If the print head is too close to the print bed, the move axis feature can be used to raise it.
Please let me know if this works and if it doesn’t I can run you ( or anyone else reading this thread) through how to perform a cold pull.
If problems persist i will take a look when I am back.
The 3D printer is not clogged. I loaded filament today and have tested it with a print. The machine is tempermental when feeding filament. It does not automatically feed, you need to assist the feed mechanism and push the filament into the load hole. I may not get far enough in when you first load, if the filament does not extrude, say no and the machine will again start to feed in the filament. Continue to assist feeding the filament until you see the new color come out. It does eventually work. There have been times when the filament gets caught on the clamp just above the heating element. If so, unload the filament then cut off the end where the clamp has indented the filament and reload. It can be a fussy machine but it does work.
