Hello! I haven’t been checked out yet for the CNC, but I was hoping to work with someone to help me cut 10 identical trapezoidal desktops from five pieces of wood. I’m building desks for my wife’s classroom, and she needs them ASAP. Is anyone willing to help?
Hello, Allan. I’m not able to help with the CNC, but there are always other ways to accomplish tasks. If you can tell me more about what you want to do, maybe i can help. Something basic is ok to start with, whether text or a quick sketch.

If you make one accurate template, you can use a regular router with a bearing template router bit that will follow your template over and over.
Hi Tony! Thanks for agreeing to help. Looks like my first email with my sketch didn’t come through, so I’ll describe it in detail: it’s a 2 ft x 8 ft board that has two isosceles trapezoids positioned side by side – my first inclination was to create a template as the other member pointed out, but i thought i could get it more uniform if i use the CNC. it looks like i will do it that way now, given my deadline, but i think a band saw to make the three cuts and a band sander to round them off will be equally good and maybe a little faster. can you assist this week with access to those two tools?
I am pretty much booked every day this week. But thursday evening is available, and saturday morning. Will that work?
Thursday is perfect, thank you! I can make a template out of cardboard (if that helps) and I’ll make sure I have the wood purchased. Anything else I can do to prep?
Also: what time works best for you… is 6 p.m. too late?

Replying to the e-mail notification doesn’t work well. You have to come back to the talk site to get it to go thru.
I will be there at about 5 pm. I do equipment checkouts on thursdays, so your project may happen around those. But i can look at what you want to do, make my suggestions, and go from there. If there are no checkouts to do, i’m glad to help.
A template will be very useful, as well as a sketch and measurements. If you have any pictures of what you want, that will help as well.
