Hey, I was wondering if we have a minimum age requirement to hold a membership? I have a 9 year old cousin who is interested in 3d printing & I was thinking of gifting him a 1 month membership at the makerspace. I know he would be delighted if it was his name on the badge & not his parents but I’m not sure if he’s too young.
Hi, Riley. Sorry to leave you hanging here so long without a reply. The area managers have discussed this issue. Since the risks can vary widely depending on the tool being used (think welder vs. 3D printer, for example), we don’t have a single answer for all. So the area manager will make the call. So you need to talk to Leif Swanson. @leif_swanson should include him in this reply.

I agree with Tony when it comes to tool usage, but also the requirement for membership itself is 18 years old, and guests younger than that can come in as a guest of a volunteer.
That said, I’m sure that we can find a way to make him feel special, including a modified badge or something similar!
