I was curious what program the laser cutter uses in order to model a cut? I want to familiarize myself with it.

The application we use for our machine is called RDWorks. You can find some instruction on our SOP site, makers.dozuki.com.
Generally, most create an image and then import into RDWorks, due to RDWorks limited design functionality. If that’s something you’re interested in, you may want to look into Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, or another comparable program as well.
