Laser Cutter Not Cutting Consistently Across Material

Hello

I am having an issue with the laser cutter where it doesn’t cut evenly across the entire workpiece. Some areas cut cleanly; while others barely etch the surface, even though the material is the same throughout. :innocent:

I have tried adjusting power & speed settings, but the inconsistency persists, making precise cuts difficult. Could this be a focus issue / is there something else I should check?

I have already cleaned the lens and mirrors & I’ve ensured that the material is lying flat on the bed. However, the problem seems to be worse on larger pieces, leading me to suspect a possible misalignment or an issue with the bed leveling. Has anyone else faced this, and what steps did you take to resolve it? Checked Issues and Requests - Lansing Makers Network Looker Training guide related to this and found it quite informative.

I found this Laser Cutter Maintenance Guide helpful for troubleshooting, but I’d appreciate any additional tips from those with experience dealing with uneven cutting performance. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:

Which laser cutter are you seeing this issue on?
Could you post some pictures of what you are seeing so that we can help troubleshoot?

if you are doing only cutting instead of etching, I often find that doing a slightly lower power, but with several passes gives me the best outcome.
