We’ve been invited to have a booth at Johnson’s Workbench over September 6th (9am-5pm) and 7th (9am-4pm)
We had a booth there last year for the same event. We’d have access to power, but I’m not sure of what else.
Our event coordinator is not available to set this up, nor am I.
This post is asking for someone to organize a booth for LMN at this event. Here’s what needs to happen
scheduling volunteers to commit to time slots you create
getting table, seats, go box, tarp, awning (and probably other things) to and from the Charlotte event. There will be setup and breakdown times that you will need to clarify with Workbench.
Coordinating how financial donations are managed (do not accept physical donations from the event without talking with the appropriate area manager first)
Communicating directly with Johnsons workbench with questions
If you are interested, please reply here to get the conversation started. The deadline to commit to running this is the 31st
I know @RealCarlRaymond is interested in volunteering. @Lex has templates to showcase upcoming classes. @jody may be available to help setup a square to receive donations. @Evelyn can reach out to volunteers to ask for shift coverage
Lex and I created a rule of thumb that, even if an event is multiple days, we only commit to one. I have not spoken with Johnson’s about this. But it would be a more manageable event if we only commit to Saturday
I’m probably going to cancel my out-of-state plans, so I can help with this. I’ve always been out of town during past expos so I am kinda flying in the dark here. However, I could help plan for this event.
What do we know about our booth besides power?
how many tables and chairs?
is there a van we can use for transporting stuff to and from Johnson’s?
what are the dimensions for our booth? That could give a sense of what we can bring.
do we have a monitor we could bring to have a repeating slideshow of our space and programs?
are we only limited to wood related displays (I assume so, but can mention other departments, have them on a slideshow
any plans for something interactive?
I really appreciate that there are other people able to help with the different aspects!
I have a truck and enclosed trailer and would be happy to help get materials down and back, and to help set up and break down. I do need to be back in East Lansing by 5:30 on Saturday (Sep. 7), so depending on how much material is involved we might need to start breaking down somewhat before 4:00 PM. Tom Herdt
Awesome, thank you Thomas! We will only be there Saturday, but I think all the volunteers interested (@RealCarlRaymond and @laura_rogers) should meet for this event on Friday (6-ish?) to make sure we have everything together so we can load up and head out in the morning.
Sounds good. If you like, I can be there with the trailer Friday at 6:00 so we can get things loaded and get an earlier start on Saturday. I’ll plan to be at the space at 6:00 either way, but let me know if you’d like me to bring the trailer then, or wait until Saturday morning to bring the trailer.
