Hi I’m Sarah and I’m a new member of the LMN. I’m a woodworker who got my start making props for UofM’s theater school. I’m from Lansing, but have spent the last few years in Boston learning how to make eighteenth century furniture at a trade school I am about to graduate from. I also make and repair instruments, make ceramics, and am interested in welding, electronics, blacksmithing, and sewing.
My Instagram is @ sarahmmorenoo where I love taking pictures of what I’m working on.
I’m John! I’ve been a member about 6 months and have fallen completely in love with LMN. It’s such a wonderful place to spend time, I think you’ll love it, too. I look forward to seeing what you work on and I’d love to hear about eighteenth century furniture making when our paths cross at the space.
Hi Sarah!
Your furniture is very exciting and that’s such a cool trade school.
I’m the area manager for crafts, and can do checkouts for the long arm machine, none of the other machines currently require checkouts but I can also do orientations if you haven’t used machines before.
I also make ceramics, do you have a kiln?
Hello, Sarah. Welcome to LMN. I’d like to see your woodworking some time, and we have a member (Dave) who makes ukeleles who might try to recruit you for the instrument makers group.
I usually do checkouts on wood shop tools on Thursday evenings, so you can usually find me in then if you want to chat.
Hi James! I’ll have to stop by and check out the crafts area- I’ve rarely used a sewing machine before, and I’d also love to see what that long arm can do! No I don’t have a kiln, right now I’m sending things with my sister to fire at MSU, but my summer stockpile is growing fast! Nice to meet you
Wow, I love your furniture! Do you have any ongoing projects?
I’m Anna, I help with some of the volunteering activities in the space and help run Open Stitch Night with my friend Fox in our craft/textile area. If you’re interested in sewing and have a project, we’d love you to join us!
The event is the first Sunday of every month, but I’m normally in every Sunday night. And Adam, who is one of our welding experts, is sometimes in then too!
Hi Anna, my current project is a shaker style sewing desk, currently on hold for the summer but hoping to finish in September, I’m currently drafting my next project, a bombé dressing mirror, and planning out the upholstery for a chair slip seat! I’ll have to stop by on a Sunday,I look forward to meeting you all!
