Hello everyone! My name is Deland Davis. I’m a 27 year-old, recently-married guy. I’m a computer programmer working remotely from 9 to 5, but I’m joining the Makerspace to try and pick up some real-world, hands-on skills and hopefully get to know some local people in the process.
My current goal is to build an arcade cabinet to put in my basement. I’ve got all the tech almost entirely worked-out, but I have absolutely zero experience in woodworking. I’d like to work my way up in skill until I have an arcade cabinet I made with my own two hands! I look forward to meeting you great folks and picking up some skills!
Deland, welcome to LMN. I do most wood shop checkouts on Thursday evenings from 5-8 pm, and you can drop in then without an appointment. Also, I am heading in to the shop today in a few minutes if that fits your schedule.
Welcome Deland. I did a similar project about a year ago using an old cabinet I found at the recycling center. If you’re interested I have some extra parts laying around. I have an old coin box and a button board. I also have a track ball from the original cabinet. It probably works but I never used it. The button board is new that I built but won’t be using it any more.
It’s yours. When will you be at the Maker’s network? I’m working on some projects right now so I’m up there a lot. Or I can box it up and leave it somewhere for you. I’d have to check with someone about where to do that though.
