Hello,

My name is Dan I am a chemist by trade. I am currently renting an apartment in Waverly. I want to get into welding and sand casting metal. I am looking for a workspace were I would be able to melt and pour metal aluminum, copper, brass, and maybe ferrous alloys, on a small scale. Somewhere that has a hard non flammable floor and some amount ventilation, or somewhere outside. Does the Lansing maker network has something like that? Has anyone done any metal casting before? I am more asking about the space rules, for example if I brought with me a propane furnace, a crucible and a sand mold would I be able to melt and pour metal there?

Hi Dan! I’m Adam the Welding area manager and the main person for our Ironworks area currently. I would love to sit down and talk with you more about your experience with casting and what you’re looking at doing. I’m also going to loop @Lex into this since she was also interested in this.
