Help with antique tube radio

Project help/advice: I have my grandfather’s antique Silvertone 7048 tube radio (1940s) that I’d like to get working. It was sitting in a cluttered unheated garage for at least 30 years.

I found schematics online, replaced the damaged power cord, the burned out tubes, and did a light cleaning of the internals. However all I get is a low level hum.

I’m not great with electronics, let alone tube radios. Would anyone be willing to help or give me some advice?

Thanks!

I asked a friend that does a lot with audio electronics. He recommends examining the pre amp circuits for damage, and double checking that all tubes function.

Hope this helps

I’ve heard that a prime candidate for failure in older equipment is the capacitors. I’d start there.
