Hey friends!
The city is redoing all the sidewalks in my area that have been mangled by tree roots. That means they are cutting down TONS of beautiful healthy trees that are on the medians between the sidewalk and the street. In my yard alone they have already removed a decently sized apple blossom and an absolutely massive maple. I asked them to let me keep some of the wood and they moved it into my side yard – the chunks are still way too big for us to move. We’d need either several people, someone with a better chainsaw than the one we just got (or to tune ours up maybe?) and/or some heavy duty equipment.
As far as getting it to the shop, I have a Jeep Compass, but it would only fit some of this at a time.
I’d like to try and get some slabs out of it as I’d REALLY love to make a gaming table. Anything else I can get out of it would be great and if all else fails we can make use of it in our fire pit. That said, I’m happy to help others get pieces that might be useful!
Also, if someone wants to come and decide how much in-kind wood donation would be equal to a full membership I would be super eager to make that happen since I can’t usually make open hours.
Finally, the Maple and Apple Blossom are the ones that I have a legit claim on, but there are logs throughout my neighborhood sitting on the curb waiting to be chipped, so the sooner someone could help me haul this stuff, the more there will be available!
