Full Access Membership Checkouts?

Hi everyone, this is my first post so apologies if this is in the wrong topic.

I made it the space today for the first time and Isaac (who was incredibly helpful) showed me around! I want to join Lansing Maker Network as a member, but my schedule makes it hard for me to actually get to the space during the normal open access hours. The website says that you’re supposed to have an open access membership for a month before you can switch to full access.

So I’m wondering if that is a strict rule? If it’s a matter of ensuring checkout classes are taken, could I schedule a way to take them in bulk session(s)? If I need to start at open access before full access then I will. I just want to actually be able to make it to the shop.

And finally, the checkouts I’m hoping to do regardless of the membership I’m able to get:

  • Planer
  • Jointer
  • Routers
  • Bandsaw
  • Table Saw
  • Drill Press

All would be the woodshop versions in case that matters.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Collin,

Welcome to LMN! I can’t answer your question relative to the one-month rule. I expect an exception can be made, but I’ll leave that decision for a board member(@RealCarlRaymond, @cafwood).

I can, however, be available to check you out on the woodworking tools you mention on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday this week at 6:30 PM. I have access to the building. Please let me know if one of those evenings will work for you.

Best wishes,
Tom Herdt

Tuesday at 6:30 PM works for me. Thank you for the help, Tom! I will see you tomorrow night.

Great Collin,

See you then.

Hi Tom and Colin, would you mind if I came tonight at 6:30 and piggybacked on that checkout? I’ve been interested in getting that done as well and I have this evening free.

That’s fine Al. See you then.

Tom
