I’m a student at MSU and for one of my classes I need to make use of fiber reinforced filament, and was wondering if anyone had a printer that could do this or if you know anywhere where I can print with this kind of filament. The exact type isn’t super important as I haven’t bought a spool yet, so any help is much appreciated, Thanks!
If by fiber reinforced you mean carbon fiber reinforced, all the 3D printer would need is a hardened nozzle. Usually these are steel but I have seen some other materials used.
Currently we do not have a hardened nozzle at LMN but I have been meaning to acquire one for personal use, and it would be compatible withone of the 3D printers at LMN.
Just a brief update but I have ordered a hardened nozzle that is compatible with our printer. I also meant to ask earlier but forgot to, what class is this and what are you making?
Awesome! We just received all the necessary hardware so now we’re designing. Thanks again for the help, I’ll be sure to let you know when we’re ready to print!
