Cutting Insulation Foam on the CNC Router

Howdy folks,

Had a few people ask about this so I wanted to share. I tried cutting some pink insulation foam on the CNC router a couple weeks and got pretty good results! This 2’ x 2’ x 1" sheet from Home Depot cost me $7, and I was able to paint it using some cheap acrylics. So, I consider this a a pretty cost-effective option for making signage / decoration. Below are my variables for this job:

Speed: 18000 r.p.m.
Feed: 3.5 inches/second
Pocket Cut depth: .3"
Profile Cut Depth: .975" (didn’t want to touch the spoil board at all)
Passes: 1

The inside / outside edges are a little rough, but I think this can be mitigated by tweaking the feeds and speeds.

If you have any questions for me, please let me know!
