The usual 1/4" collet that we use on the CNC machine has been damaged, and can’t be used anymore. This puts the machine out of service until we get a new one.
However, there are other size collets available, so if you’re using a bit with a shank size other than 1/4", you can continue to use the machine. We’ll get a replacement 1/4" collet shortly.
The damaged collet may explain some recent failures that people have experienced. Burrs between the slots may have prevented proper bit holding, even with proper tightening. This would allow the bit to slip out and dig in too far.
