Hello,
I was using the CNC yesterday, and I crashed the machine (it is running fine dont worry). Heres what happened.
Crash -
The tool change command was running (from 3 to 8), and bit 3 was being placed in its holder. Just as it was being placed in its holder, the machine ran out of air (The breaker for the air compressor had tripped, so it was slowly loosing air pressure), so it stopped the program. I then reset the breaker on the air compressor, then reran the tool change command (from bit 3 to bit 8). For some reason, it had thought there was no tool in the spindle, so it ran right over to tool bit 8 to pick it up. Of course, there WAS tool 3 in the spindle, so as it ran over to pick up tool 8, it crashed. I panicked and hit the EStop. Both tool 3 and 8 had fallen on the table, and tool 3 (3/8in 2 flute downcut bit) has broken.
(Im not an artist, dont judge me
Post Crash -
After the crash, I went over to the machine shop to get the dial indicator, and checked the alignment of the spindle (mainly the tram). After checking it, everything seemed fine, and after running a couple other tests (such as running the spindle and the repeatability of the machine axes), Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so I ran a test cut on piece of wood. It ran fine.
Notes -
Tool holder mount 8 is trashed, so I moved tool 8 in place of tool 9. I will purchase another couple toolholders mounts to replace it. I will also purchase another 3/8in 2 flute downcut bit.
Let me know if any parts of this need clarification.
David
