Hello,
I’m interested in checking out machining on a mill and lathe + Flux core welding, and some basic woodworking.
What work material should I bring? (bar stock, sheet steel, pallet wood or store lumber etc)
Thanks,
-Mike

Hi, Mike. Welcome to LMN. It’s a great place.
I am the wood shop area manager, and am one of the people who can do checkouts on most tools in that area. I have a standing checkout night on Thursdays from about 5 - 8 pm, unless I have a schedule conflict. Check the talk site thread here about woodshop checkouts for details. I do plan to be there next week on the 10th.
I will also be in the space this Saturday for a class. It should be done around 3 - 4 pm. If you want to come by then, and you’re willing to wait a bit if we go long, you’re welcome to do the miter saw checkout then.
As for materials - wood shop checkouts are done mostly using wood from the scrap bin, so you don’t need to bring anything for that. I can’t speak to what metal you may need to bring with you.

Thank you!
Hi Mike, I’m Adam the Welding Area Manager, what days work best for you to get a checkout on the welder? Welcome to the Space, hope to see what you end up making!
