Blacksmithing Roses - anyone want to be in a tester class?

I am pretty sure I can make it there that Saturday. I need to leave in time to get to LCC West by 1 PM.
Thanks Maria!

Thanks Maria,
I am trying to start developing curriculums in some areas at the makerspace so that if someone comes in to take one class and finds it interesting they can find another or other related classes. I will plan to reach out to you, Jody, and a member Rozlyn in the near future to see if we can come up a jewelry program that offers maybe some jewelry design course, bead making 1 and 2, metalwork, etc. There are a few things I want to work out first, but as I mentioned, I hope to get back with you soon.

Something I keep thinking about as a class series is blacksmithed forks/spoons/knives/marshmallow skewers with turned wood handles.

I don’t have any experience with attaching wood handles to things yet, but if we could learn it might make for a good multi-area class series.

Gentle reminder: I need to be included in on the jewelry area class discussions, as well. I know I’m currently not teaching, but I do go over a bit of design work in our Metalsmithing 101 class. I’ve had plans to teach enameling on copper for quite a long while. It’s something our community is interested in + it is not offered in our area. We can talk more about the few reasons I haven’t taught an enameling class, yet. For reference, I have nearly 11 years experience w/ torch fired enameling on copper & 4 using a kiln. I love creating w/ enamels!

@Maria I’m new to LMN but would love to join for this if you still have room!

Hi,
My intent is not to exclude you. I may have misunderstood, but I thought you have withdrawn your active participation in teaching or managing the jewelry area for now. What is your current intent and interests?
Charlie

I can help showing how make and attach wooden handles. We’ll talk more about what to put the handles on.

Hi @Amy, I think we should have enough kits, come on down!

(And thanks to @bjadms8’s donation and @AdamT’s oxy-acetylene cutter skills, we’re going to have several new mini-anvils that need testing!)

Charlie, I figured it wasn’t intentional. Teaching is the only thing I’ve stepped away from, for now. I have continued managing & taking care of the jewelry area all along w/ some assistance as needed. Could we schedule a time to meet & talk more?

@Maria Awesome! Thanks so much! I’ll see you tomorrow!
