A brief note about the Rosenthal box filters

Howdy everyone,

There are now two Rosenthal box filters running in the space, one in the main hall area near the end of the long tables, and the other is in the woodshop. These work best when left on for extended periods of time, and with the hospital across the street being demolished these will help with air quality issues. I would ask that for now they be left on permanently until the hospital is finished being demolished. Especially the one in the wood shop as it will help control the wood dust that gets everywhere. I will leave notes on the boxes themselves.

The filters can be cleaned either by using a shop vac to suck the dust off of the filters or by taking the outside and using compressed air to blow the dust out of the filters. This should probably be done about once a month or when they look particularly dirty, and I will try my best to remain on top of checking/cleaning them.

TL;DR
Please leave the Rosenthal box filters permanently on until the hospital is finished being demolished.

If air quality in the space is a long-term concern, is there any interest in building/buying some air quality sensors for the space? I’m currently designing one for my 3D printer setup, and if LMN could use some sensors, that would give me some extra motivation to push the project along.

Howdy Daniel,

I apologize for my late reply and my only explanation is that im in the middle of midterms at LCC.

I do think a couple of air quality sensors around the building for now would a great idea. Any work on this project would be great as I actually do need to make an air quality sensor for future project as well. Please let me know if theres any help I provide to help you on your project.

Best regards

No worries, I’ve also been extremely busy myself!

I just got my PCBs delivered for my air quality sensor/filtering solution; if assembly and testing go well, I should have at least one extra fully assembled board I could donate for the cause. Unfortunately the price of the sensor component itself went up significantly (mainly due to tariffs), and I only have one on hand. Given recent events we might want to wait a bit in case there’s potential price relief on the horizon.
