October 6th I’ll be pulling into town with a large Wurlitzer organ that I’ve promised to haul away from a Y camp I do some work for. It plugs in and turns on, and the keys all have good motion, but there are some repairs needed. The legs need to be tightened somehow (probably easy, and within my skill set). And, while the keys do have good motion, some of them buzz or are low-volume, which I think means some of the electrical connections inside need repair (no idea if that’s easy or not, as it’s definitely NOT in my skill set). And it definitely could use a thorough cleaning.
Originally my brother was going to try his hand at restoring it in his shop in Ann Arbor, but he just bailed on the project. And my obligation to haul it away from the camp remains. So, if any wants to take on the project of repairing this thing, I’d be happy to give it them, permanently, to keep for themselves or to sell refurbished. I just don’t want it to end up in the trash. I’m not really any kind of musician, but I took some piano lessons as a kid and always thought these organs were super cool.
It comes with the bench!
