6" belt sander problems?

The 6" belt sander is down, apparently. The pulley from the motor shaft is currently sitting on top of the sanding belt. I found the shaft key on the platform below the sander. It looks like they only need to be reassembled.

Is there something else wrong with it? This tool is very useful for me on the canoe project.

I didn’t know there was any problem. If you feel comfortable putting the pulley back on, go ahead. Make sure the sanding belt moves freely. If someone tried to adjust it and made it tight, the bearings could easily be damaged and “freeze” the sanding belt in place. I will be back in town next week and can look at it then.

I’ll re-assemble it today and check it out.

I put it all together, and it seems to work fine.
