Hi there! I have a really cool (almost) 11 year old in my life who wants a 3D printer for his birthday. Does anyone have any recommendations for the 3D printer itself, filament, or other materials? He’s a very smart kid, but also still a kid.
Something user friendly and within a reasonable price range is ideal. Thanks!
There are a TON of options for 3d printers! I would recommend PLA for a starter filament. It is very forgiving, inexpensive, and relatively durable. As long as he isn’t printing tools with it, it’s a great option.
Printers are a bit more tricky. They can range in price wildly, and it kinda depends on what you consider reasonable. Ender 3s are very inexpensive and have a wonderful community to support them. However, they are not the most beginner friendly. If he has someone to show him the basics, it’s a great option.
There are a bunch of others that are “plug and play” like the centuri carbon, or the neptune 4.
If you or him would like to swing by the space sometime I’m sure there are plenty of up that could give a basic rundown of what you need, options, software, ect.
Thank you so much!
I got my nephew a Bambu A1 Mini for his 10th birthday and he’s had wonderful success with it.
