Soldering a brass hoop

I would like some help/advice on soldering the ends together of a brass hoop I want to use for a banjo tone ring. My experience with soldering is limited to guitar electronics and copper plumbing pipes.

I just saw this and had a question maybe you know about. How do you know if a thing should be soldered or if it needs proper welding?

I know a bit about it. Thin steel and other metals and electronics are soldered. Other metals including cast iron, aluminum, brass, and even precious metals like gold can be welded using different techniques, though often some of these materials may be brazed or soldered strongly. Many times, I think when people think of welding, they are thinking about welding steel/iron. What metals are you thinking of joining. Thin metals, I should add, can be at least be spot welded.
