C N C - Checkout

Hey - I jumped on a general woodshop checkout request (specifically looking for bandsaw, table saw, jointer, plainer) but I’d also like to get checked out on any and all CNC machines.

I have decent experience with laser and plotters, the big wood one would be awesome too

I am interested in this as well

I also would like to get checked out

4pm on the 24th work for y’all?

It’ll be 2ish hours. We’ll cover V-carve, the program to use the CNC, first. Then we’ll machine something on the cnc

That works for me!

is it possible for me to jump in on this? if there is not space that’s ok, but i have a few project ideas that would be greatly simplified or expanded by the cnc

Yep!
6 is my cap for this checkout.

So far, just you and James have committed. If @DJGrimes and @Tony can make it, I need them to confirm

Confirming.

Hi Evelyn

I’d also like to attend. I was checked out on the old one but would like to see the process on the new one.

Alrighty, that’s 6!

What’s CNC? I notice this event is maxed out but I am unfamiliar with terminology.

“Computer numerical control”, it’s kind of a vague term that would refer to a number of tools at the LMN. In this context, we’re talking about the big machine in the woodworking area. It uses computer files to move a cutting tool around. The lasers use basically the same technology to move the work tool.

I hope that helps!
